In a culture that glorifies hustle, productivity, and “doing more,” rest can feel… unproductive. Even lazy. But the truth is, rest isn’t a weakness—it’s biblical.
From the very beginning, we see that rest was not only allowed—it was modeled by God Himself.
God Rested First
In Genesis, we read that after creating the heavens and the earth, God rested on the seventh day.
His work was complete—and He set a rhythm for us to follow.
Rest was built into creation on purpose.
Rest Is an Act of Trust
Choosing to rest is more than just taking a break—it’s a declaration of trust.
It says:
“I don’t have to do everything today.”
“God is still in control, even when I pause.”
“My worth is not tied to my productivity.”
When we constantly push without rest, we often operate from a place of striving instead of surrender.
Your Body Was Designed for Rest
God didn’t just command rest spiritually—He designed our bodies to need it.
Sleep and recovery are essential for:
Hormone balance
Muscle recovery
Mental clarity
Emotional stability
Ignoring rest doesn’t make you stronger—it eventually leads to burnout.
Rest Can Be Intentional
Rest doesn’t always mean doing nothing. It can look like:
Taking a walk outside
Spending time in prayer
Unplugging from your phone
Doing a puzzle
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck, maybe the answer isn’t to push harder.
Maybe it’s to pause.
Rest isn’t falling behind. It’s returning to the rhythm God created for you.
You don’t have to earn it. You were designed for it.
I hope this has served you well!
