The holidays are a season of giving, but that doesn’t have to mean giving up your healthy habits. In fact, serving others can be one of the best ways to nourish both your body and your spirit.
This year, try blending fitness, faith, and community in simple, meaningful ways that remind you what this season is truly about.
Here are four ways to combine service and wellness this holiday season:
1. Take a Trash Pickup Walk
Turn your next walk into a mission. Grab a pair of gloves, a trash bag, and head out to clean up your neighborhood or a nearby park. You’ll get your steps in, enjoy some fresh air, and make your community a little brighter in the process.
It’s a simple act that reminds us that stewardship — caring for what God has given us — feeds our mind and spirit.
2. Shovel a Neighbor’s Driveway
When the snow starts to fall, grab your shovel and surprise an elderly neighbor or busy family by clearing their driveway or sidewalk.
It’s a fantastic upper-body and cardio workout, but more importantly, it’s an act of kindness that can ease someone else’s burden during a hectic season.
3. Make My No-Bake Cookies and Deliver Them to Neighbors
Healthy can still be festive! Whip up a batch of my No-Bake Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
— full of clean, wholesome ingredients — and share them with your neighbors or local first responders.
Find the recipe here.
You’ll spread a little holiday cheer while showing that “wellness” doesn’t mean missing out on the sweet things in life.
4. Donate Old Fitness Gear
We all have gently used fitness clothes or equipment collecting dust. This season, go through your closet and donate what you no longer use to a local shelter, church, or youth program.
Your gift could help someone else begin their own wellness journey — and remind you how blessed you are to move your body freely and with purpose.
Serving with a Healthy Heart
When we move with love and serve with intention, we reflect the heart of Christ.
So this holiday season, don’t separate your fitness from your faith. Bring them together, and see how both your body and spirit grow stronger in the process.
Wishing you the merriest Christmas season!
