Things That Don't Determine Your Value

We live in a world that constantly tries to assign our worth.
It tells us that we're valuable if we're successful enough, attractive enough, productive enough, or popular enough. And if we're not careful, we can start believing that our value rises and falls based on our circumstances.
But God says something different.
Your value was never meant to be determined by the opinions of others or the number on a scale. Your value comes from who you are and whose you are.
Things That Don't Determine Your Value
Your weight
Your eating habits
How much you work out
How long you spend at the gym
Your accomplishments
Your mistakes
Your age
Other people's opinions
Your thoughts
Your productivity
Where Your Value Actually Comes From
As believers, our value comes from being children of God.
Before you accomplished anything, God loved you.
Before you cleaned up your mistakes, God loved you.
Before you proved yourself to anyone, God loved you.
Scripture reminds us in Romans 8:16 that we are children of God. That identity is secure because it is rooted in Him, not in our performance.
“For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.” —Romans 8:16, NLT
When we understand that truth, we stop chasing validation from things that can never truly satisfy.
We can pursue health without obsessing over a number.
We can work hard without tying our identity to our success.
We can make mistakes without believing we're failures.
The world will always try to give you a new standard to measure yourself against, but God has already settled the question of your worth.
And that value cannot be increased by success or decreased by failure.
The next time you're tempted to measure your worth by your appearance, accomplishments, or circumstances, remember this: Your value was established long ago by the One who created you.
I hope this has served you well!
