What to wear?

Spring is coming, winter is fading but they clearly intermingle! I recently went out on a runner that clearly I was not prepared for neither mentally nor physically. Here was my problem, I got into my routine of the same favorite running clothes. Here’s what I realized…I need layers! I was out on a 10-mile run and during that time, the temperature with the sun had risen 15 degrees. I had to type things around my waist, carry gloves, take off my headband and I WAS STILL HOT! So, in this I offer some advice. Always dress like it’s 10 degrees warmer with layers. You should be chilly at the beginning of the run since our temperatures will rise within the first mile. If after a few miles, you are hot you can take off a layer accordingly. Think about a short sleeve under a long sleeve to ensure you are warm but not cold. We tend to dress warmer at the start so keep in mind your body and the temperature outside will rise so you need to account for both. My last word of advice is check your socks as well. Thicker socks will not be a benefit in the summer so start to look for thinner sock to avoid blisters caused by rubbing. Our feet may swell more in the heat so thinner socks with a combination of foot powder may be the perfect combination.
