Let me grab you by your face, like my grandmother used to do as we sat across the kitchen table from each other eating hotdogs with a Pepto Bismol chaser. You are going to be okay. You are going to be more than okay.
And like a kid with a skinned knee we come in wailing from the initial hit but after a brief rest, a juice box and episode of Sponge Bob we are right back on our bikes flying down hills with our feet raised up over the pedals, the wind at our backs.
Because brothers and sisters- this is a wild ride. It’s bumpy, clunky, an uphill climb to get to an exhilarating free fall and even as your stomach is turning and churning you’ll know you’re right where you belong.
Because we weren’t just meant to survive this life. God wants us to THRIVE!
And sometimes that means taking a really hard fall, learning how to get some first aid and then running right back to the place we hit the concrete. There is beauty in the blacktop. A familiar smell of both heartache and redemption in the asphalt. Sometimes we just need a fellow friend or mentor or grandmother to grab us by our faces and tell us we’re going to be okay.
So whatever knocked you off, whatever skinned your knee or took your breath. Go back out there and face it today.
There are so many people cheering you on and you have a good Father holding on to the back of your seat.
